Tomosynthesis enables detection of defects or foreign objects hidden beneath the fastener head. Drilling chips or cracks can be obscured by the deep shadow of a steel or titanium fastener head in conventional 2D X-ray imaging.
The flexibility of robotic positioning systems allows these defects to be detected.
